Putra Career Guidance Programme Gives Overview of Student's Personalities and Career Interest

PUTRA CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME GIVES OVERVIEW OF PERSONALITIES AND CAREER INTEREST FOR STUDENT

SERDANG - A total of 845 students from the Center for Agricultural Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (ASPER UPM) participated in a series of Putra Career Guidance programs in a series of lectures from February 17 to February 20, 2020 at the Centre of Foundation Studies For Agricultural Science, University Putra Malaysia (ASPER UPM). The program is organized by the Career Counseling Section, Universiti Putra Malaysia Counseling Division (BKUPM) in collaboration with the Centre of Foundation Studies For Agricultural Science.

Purpose of this programme is to give students exposure and better understanding of their personalities and career interests. In addition, it helps students to identify the alignment between their career interests and work environment, as well as assist students in designing appropriate courses of study for entry into their undergraduate studies based on their interests, talents and academic results.

One of the methods used in the implementation of this program is that students first need to take the Career Interest Exam online and both students will get guidance from BKUPM Counselors to provide clarification on the Career Interest Profile which includes Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional (RIASEC). Among others, students are helped to select programs that fit their profile through the UPM Bachelor Program Selection Module. In addition, they will be provided with guidance on choosing a study program and job description.

The impact of implementing this program to the university is to reduce the risk of student transfer applications in the course. We hope that such a program can continue in the future to continue to provide ASPER students career guidance and common sense in decision making and choice of courses.

Congratulations and thanks to all involved in making this program a success.
