"There is no meaning to success, progress and prosperity if the people are divided and fighting among themselves." The following is the expression of the third Honorable Former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Hussein Onn. His words need to be carefully considered and understood together. As people living in a pluralistic society, of course there will be many differences from each other. Both from the aspect of religion, culture and ideology. This difference, if not taken care of, can be the cause of fights and divisions among Malaysians themselves.
However, if we lift up and celebrate the differences that exist between us all, it is certain that these differences will be appreciated and accepted by every nation and unity will be more closely intertwined. That is what is meant by the expression Father of the Unity of our country. We cannot be divided just because of our differences. We need to understand that each of us has our own differences and these differences need to be respected. Surely the peace and unity that we felt in the past, will always be felt by us until our children and grandchildren in the future.
