BREAK DOWN THE WALL OF PRESSURE!

Author: Noorihayatti binti Noorudin K.B,P.A

Rina (not her real name), just started work in a new department after working for eight years in the previous department. At first, he was very eager to start a new task and hoped to gain new experiences. However, after a few weeks of work, Rina begins to feel that her new workplace is not as fun as she thought.

He found the atmosphere at the new workplace to be more soul- and emotional-stifling than at the old place. Rina also began to experience higher work pressure and felt that she could not adapt to the new work environment. In fact, his new co-workers are also harder to approach and not as friendly as his old co-workers.

Rina felt increasingly stressed by this situation and began experiencing symptoms of stress, such as headaches, anxiety, and irritability. He felt that he had made the wrong decision to move to this new workplace. Has anyone ever gone through an event or heard the words of friends who experienced a similar situation as Rina? If there is, let's explore FORMULA ABCD as follows:

ACCEPT/SELF ACCEPTANCE
If things like the above happen to us, the first thing to do is self-acceptance. Self-acceptance means that we have to accept the fact that we are now in a zone outside the norm unlike in the old place.

Self-acceptance is very important because it can prevent us from getting caught up in further emotional games of rejection that ultimately lead to deeper negative effects. This concept can be done by reflecting on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT Analysis).

The analysis that results from the built reflection, will be able to open a new page for our physical, mental and emotional to continue to compete and remain positive at work.

BELIEVE/SELF CONFIDENCE
The concept of believing in oneself (self-confidence) is a person's belief in his own ability to achieve goals and overcome obstacles in life. Believing in yourself is important in developing self-confidence, achieving success and maintaining good mental health.

Believing in oneself involves the identification of one's abilities, strengths and skills. This involves a positive assessment of oneself, ignoring doubts or fears and focusing on solutions rather than problems.

To increase self-confidence, a person can practice several strategies, such as:

a. Setting achievable goals and planning ways to achieve them.

b. Talk to yourself positively, avoid words that belittle or doubt your own abilities.

c. Remembering previous achievements and noting the progress that has been made.

d. Take responsibility for decisions and actions taken.

e. Develop skills and knowledge to strengthen self-confidence.

f. Avoid comparison with others and focus on yourself.

CHALLENGE/SELF CHALLENGE
The concept of self-challenge (self-challenge) is an action or strategy to drive oneself in order to achieve a goal and improve one's ability and strength. Self-challenge involves taking greater risks and efforts than what a person usually does with the aim of developing their abilities and overcoming their limitations.

Improving ability and achieving higher goals through self-challenge requires determination, discipline and perseverance. A person who trains himself with self-challenge can develop self-confidence, increase effort and achieve better results than ever expected before.

There are several strategies that can be used to practice self-challenge, among others:

a) Setting goals that are higher than what is usually achieved, as well as making detailed and organized action plans.
b) Taking risks and actions outside the comfort zone such as making presentations in front of the public or taking on larger projects.
c) Motivate yourself by visualizing the results you want to achieve and focus on the benefits of hard work.
d) Improve skills and knowledge through independent learning, training or courses and follow self-development programs.
e) Accept failure as a lesson and improve yourself from mistakes that have been made.

DEVELOPMENT/SELF DEVELOPMENT
Self-development (self-development) is a process in which a person performs actions aimed at improving the abilities, skills, knowledge and positive attitude that he has in himself. The purpose of self-development is to reach one's full potential and become better than before.

Among the strategies that can be used to develop yourself are:

a) Setting goals: setting clear and measurable goals, and making action plans to achieve them.
b) Self-assessment: regular self-assessment to identify strengths and weaknesses and to know what needs to be improved.
c) Independent learning: reading books, taking courses, and searching for information through various sources
d) Develop interpersonal skills: learn to communicate well, work in a team and develop good social relationships.

In conclusion, this formula can help us to overcome work stress issues and help us to achieve work pleasure.
