Emotional Management: Tear Down the Walls of Your Ego

Written by: Madam Izwana Ismail

Let us ponder for a moment, have we ever felt as if there’s something crushing our soul, felt unease and felt our breathing become shallow when we wake up in the morning? Turns out something is bothering us without us being aware of it. We become uneasy due to our buried ego. We hold onto that ego and don't let it go because we feel that we’re innocent and we’re in the right.

Many people face difficulties in tearing down barriers due to their obsession with their egos. Tear down your ego and break the barrier. The existing barriers are what makes our emotions turbulent.

Everyone has an ego, but everything depends on how we try to control it. Some people are successful in managing and controlling their egos, while some people are unable to control it.

Our ego is bound to hurt and destroy relationships if we are unable to overcome it. For now, our partners, or the people close to us may have been patient with our egotistical ways, but after a while, they will eventually distance themselves as they get hurt from our ego.

Ego is the selfish way of putting importance on oneself, and regarding oneself as more important and better than others.

The way to control ego is to know what causes it. Do we feel as if we’re the best in everything and have never made any mistake? If we know the extent of our ego, then we need to create empathy to try to understand other people’s feelings.

Moreover, we also have to learn to be patient with things in our life. This is because, if we are patient, we are at peace with the ego in us.

Stop comparing yourself with other people and start seeing the good in people so our ego could be controlled.

We also need to learn to accept other people’s views and opinions. These are the things that we can do to control our ego and be more mindful and at peace.
