SERDANG, 8 October - The Training of Trainers (TOT) AKRAB Care 2025 Course was successfully conducted with the participation of 38 AKRAB members of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The course took place at the Counselling Division Auditorium on 30 September 2025, from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

The session was facilitated by invited speaker Madam Siti Hasiah Jusoh, Principal Assistant Secretary from the Ministry of Defence Malaysia (MINDEF), who has extensive experience in human capital development and psychosocial well-being management in the workplace.

The main objective of this course was to empower AKRAB members with up-to-date knowledge and skills related to the AKRAB Care approach, which emphasizes peer support in addressing emotional issues, work stress, and mental well-being among organizational members.

Throughout the session, participants were exposed to various practical modules covering basic counselling techniques, active listening skills, and empathetic approaches in supporting colleagues facing psychological challenges and workplace stress — particularly in relation to the implementation of separation policy processes at UPM.

The course also emphasized ethics and professionalism in fulfilling the role of an AKRAB member, aligning with the aspiration to create a more inclusive, caring, and supportive work culture.

In addition, the program featured interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, allowing participants to share experiences, exchange insights, and strengthen networking among AKRAB representatives from different departments.

According to the UPM Counselling Division, this course is part of an ongoing effort to enhance the capacity of AKRAB members to serve as effective and competent peer helpers.

Participants responded positively to the program, expressing that it inspired them to continue serving with greater commitment in supporting the mental and emotional well-being of UPM staff.

Through this initiative, it is hoped that AKRAB members will continue their noble efforts in cultivating a healthier, more harmonious, and productive work environment, in line with the core values of public service and the university’s aspiration toward holistic excellence.
