SERDANG, March 7 – The AKRAB Strengthening Course Series 1/2025: Solutions Focused Brief Therapy is an initiative by the Public Service Mentoring Partners (AKRAB) and the Career Counseling Section, Counseling Division, UPM. This program was held on February 27, 2025, at Lecture Hall 4, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The program director for this session was Prof. Datin Dr. Sharida Fakurazi, who is also an Exco member of AKRAB UPM. This session featured an interesting presentation on Solutions Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) by YM Dr. Raja Kamariah Binti Raja Mohd Khalid, Chief Assistant Director from the Public Service Department.

The objective of this program was to provide knowledge about Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to AKRAB UPM members and the faculty management, enhancing their ability to mentor colleagues or subordinates effectively and practically. The program was attended by AKRAB UPM members, the management of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and psychology officers from BKUPM and HSAS. The session covered essential techniques in SFBT, such as the miracle question, scaling question, and identifying exceptions, which are very useful in the mentoring process.

One of the participants, Prof. Dr. Cheah Pike See, stated, "Practically helpful to various issues at work." Additionally, Puan Salimah Japar, another program participant, mentioned, "New knowledge for myself and application to staff and students." This highlights that the program provided a new, practical approach that participants could use to help themselves and others around them. In conclusion, the program had a significant positive impact on all participants.
