BKUPM COOPERATION WITH KERAMAT DISTRICT COUNSELORS COMMUNITY

By : Puan Kamariah Derasol K.B.; P.A.

SERDANG, May 31 – The UPM Counseling Division successfully organized the 3K@ UPM Program together with the Keramat Counseling Teacher Council and the Keramat District Education Office recently. This program took place on 8 May 2024 from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm at the UPM Counseling Division. The main content of this program is the Keramat District Guidance and Counseling Teacher Professionalism Course where a total of 42 Keramat District Counseling Guidance Teachers learn knowledge and skills from the UPM Psychological Officer, undergo art therapy activities and share knowledge of counseling best practices and counseling innovations.

The program started with registration, a facilitator introduction session and a light exercise conducted by a facilitator from UPM. A total of 4 Facilitators of Bachelor of Counseling Education students organized exercise activities, Group Training activities (LDK) and art therapy sessions. The art therapy group activity session "Mandala" reveals the inner strength that the participants have from the aspect of self-resilience in the career world.

The first slot of knowledge sharing was presented by the Psychological Officer of UPM's Counseling Division, Mrs. Kamariah Derasol entitled 'Trauma & Healing'. The sharing of this title is relevant to the situation of counseling teachers in schools who are faced with students who face trauma from various causes. Participants also have the opportunity to learn techniques to help clients who are facing trauma to recover emotionally.

The second slot is a presentation session on Good Counseling Practices by Puan Nurul Syuhada from SMK Desa Tun Hussein Onn, Kuala Lumpur. The second presentation was the sharing of innovation experiences in the field of counseling delivered by Mrs. Siti Zubaydah from SMK Zon R1 Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur.

This community program not only benefits counseling guidance teachers from the Keramat district community but also UPM counseling students.
The participants were also given space to interact and ask questions in the experience sharing slot at school. 15 UPM students from the Bachelor of Counseling and Masters of Counseling programs were enlightened about the reality of counseling implementation from a highly experienced Counseling guidance teacher. The process of knowledge transfer from UPM officers to the community and from the Counseling Guidance Teacher in the community makes this program reciprocal and provides benefits to both parties.

The closing ceremony was graced with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation from the Keramat District Education Office to the UPM Counseling Division represented by Mrs. Kamariah Derasol as the program coordinator. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to program facilitators and presenters.

The program ends with a photography session to capture the memory and documentation of BKUPM activities. Hopefully this program can spread counseling knowledge from UPM to the community in line with UPM's motto "Berilmu Berbakti".
