BKUPM EKSA GRAND GOTONG-ROYONG DOUBLE SEPTEMBER 2025

By : Mrs. Ayna Marliana binti Mohamad Sari

SERDANG, September 27 - The Counseling Division of Universiti Putra Malaysia (BKUPM) successfully organized two series of EKSA Grand Gotong-Royong activities throughout September 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to create a more cheerful, safe, and conducive workplace environment.

The first series was held on 12 September 2025, from 8.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon, involving BKUPM staff in cleaning and beautifying both the interior and exterior areas of the building. The activity focused on reorganizing office spaces, decluttering documents, and enhancing the landscape, under the motivational slogans “A tidy space brings a calm heart” and “When everyone plays their part, work becomes easier and smoother.” This gotong-royong successfully strengthened teamwork among staff while brightening up the workplace atmosphere. The activity involved all 16 BKUPM staff members, comprising psychology officers and support staff.

The second series took place on 25 and 26 September 2025, from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., at the BKUPM foyer. This activity focused on managing temporary disposal areas and reorganizing unused equipment. Participants were encouraged to bring their own gloves and drinking water for comfort during the activity. Dressed in sports attire, BKUPM members worked hand in hand to ensure a more systematic, safe, and obstruction-free workspace.

According to the BKUPM EKSA coordinator, the consistent organization of gotong-royong reflects the division’s commitment to supporting EKSA practices. “Gotong-royong is not merely about cleanliness, but also a platform to build solidarity, nurture shared responsibility, and holistically improve the work environment,” he said.

Interestingly, this series also received support from student volunteers of UPM’s Co-Curriculum and Student Development Centre (PKPP), who actively joined in to help make the activity a success. Their presence not only lightened the workload but also highlighted the values of solidarity and volunteerism among students.

With the full participation of staff, both series of gotong-royong not only achieved the objectives of physical cleanliness but also enhanced the sense of shared ownership over the workplace environment. The double implementation throughout September reflects BKUPM’s dedication to strengthening a systematic and conducive work culture, in line with the university’s aspiration to cultivate EKSA values.
