UPM Serdang, 27 September - Fire training for the Incident Action Plan (IAP) is an initiative program of the UPM Counseling Division under the guidance of the Occupational Health and Safety Management Office (PPKKP) at UPM which must be carried out every year. This fire drill provides information on how to save yourself during a fire for employees, students and visitors.

This training is held on 21 September 2023 from 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM at the UPM Counseling Department Building. This training is one of the requirements for the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to understand the role if any emergency/fire occurs. In addition, it provides awareness to employees, students or visitors about techniques to save themselves in the event of an emergency/fire in the UPM Counseling Division building.

Techniques to implement evacuation procedures such as bells will ring continuously, run to save themselves and gather at the Assembly Point, ERT will also make a check in the list of names and whereabouts in a room, emergency routes should be known and remembered by employees, students and visitors. Next, this training was held in the building of the UPM Counseling Division to convey techniques for the use of first aid, fire extinguishers and involve communication with the relevant PTJ. The First Aid Unit, PPKKP at the time of training will inform about the cause of fire such as from electricity, wire flow that is too long, damaged wire distribution and so on.

The involvement of this training is made up of the First Aid Unit, the Occupational Safety and Health Management Office, the Development and Asset Management Office, the Communication Unit and Operations Room, the University Police Assistance and Security Center, the University Health Center and all individuals in the vicinity building mainly focused on employees of the UPM Counseling Division. This training is beneficial for channeling information about the risks that occur. If the workers and individuals involved during the training know the risks then the availability and prevention to not be negligent when handling the risky space or equipment. In conclusion, the Counseling Division ensures that fire drills are held in the Counseling Division building to understand the importance of assets and especially for a person's life. We from the ERT Counseling Division are grateful for the implementation of the Emergency Training in the Counseling Division which was successfully implemented without the individuals involved in the building being aware of it. Hopefully this training can continue and make it a good and beneficial thing for all of us.
