SERDANG, 29 July - The Counseling Division of Universiti Putra Malaysia (BKUPM) continued its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the education community through the From School to Foundation: Mapping the Educational Journey programme, held on 22 June 2026 from 2.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. at the UPM Foundation Centre. The programme was attended by 55 school counsellors, aiming to enhance their knowledge and capability in guiding students towards well-informed educational and career decisions.

The programme provided school counsellors with early exposure to selecting suitable bachelor's degree programmes based on students' interests, abilities, and potential, while highlighting the relationship between academic pathways, career opportunities, and future industry demands. The session was designed to equip counsellors with updated information that would enable them to provide more accurate and effective educational guidance to students.

Throughout the programme, participants received comprehensive information on educational pathways from secondary school to foundation programmes and subsequently to bachelor's degree studies. Detailed explanations on admission requirements, programme options, and higher education opportunities enabled counsellors to gain a clearer understanding of the available academic pathways, allowing them to better support students in planning their educational future.

The programme also strengthened counsellors' ability to assist students in identifying their strengths, setting realistic educational goals, and making informed decisions aligned with their interests, capabilities, and career aspirations. This initiative supports the development of students who are better prepared to pursue higher education and meet the evolving needs of the workforce.

In addition, the programme reinforced collaboration between Universiti Putra Malaysia and the school counselling community through knowledge sharing and professional engagement on higher education opportunities, admissions, and career development. Such strategic partnerships are expected to enhance the dissemination of accurate educational information, enabling students to make informed decisions about their future studies.

Overall, the From School to Foundation: Mapping the Educational Journey programme successfully achieved its objectives by enhancing school counsellors' knowledge, understanding, and readiness to guide students in planning their educational and career pathways. BKUPM hopes that similar initiatives will continue to strengthen partnerships with schools while supporting the development of knowledgeable, competitive, and future-ready students.
