SERDANG, May 28 - The AKRAB Empowerment Course Series 2/2025 titled “Laughter Therapy” was successfully conducted, delivering a positive and impactful experience for all participants. This meaningful initiative was made possible through the collaboration between the UPM Counselling Division, AKRAB UPM, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Engineering Sports & Social Club. The program took place on May 22, 2025, at Thinker Space 2.0, running from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The session was facilitated by Dr. Norzah Abdul Ghani, a Humor Advocate & Laughter Therapy Specialist, along with Dr. Raja Kamariah Raja Mohd Khalid.

The event left a remarkable impact on participants, as reflected in the enthusiastic feedback shared:

“Absolutely fun, my cheeks hurt from laughing! Hahaha.” – Mrs. Nooratiqah Tanda

“Always laughing, no matter what problems we face – no need to stress.” – Mrs. Norhazirah Ismail

“Activates both humor and hormones!” – Mrs. Kamariah Derasol

A total of 60 participants took part in the session, comprising 30 AKRAB members and 30 staff from the Faculty of Engineering. The program began with a welcoming speech by Prof. Ir. Dr. Zainal Abidin Ab. Kadir, followed by an introduction to AKRAB by Ms. Syarifah Sheril Azlin Syed Baharin, AKRAB UPM Coordinator. This was followed by an engaging and insightful sharing session led by Dr. Norzah and her team. Participants were equipped with techniques and skills to conduct laughter therapy, explored the effects of oxytocin release on mental well-being, and experienced hands-on laughter therapy simulations. All attendees participated enthusiastically, showing full commitment throughout the activities. The relaxed and engaging delivery of the content made it easy to understand, practical, and memorable. It is hoped that this program will have lasting benefits, especially in helping AKRAB UPM members apply these techniques to support their colleagues and improve their own well-being.

Congratulations to all participants!
