SERDANG, November 30 – The Mental Health Section, Counseling Division of Universiti Putra Malaysia (BKUPM) was invited to collaborate with the Student Representative Council (MPK) of College Ten for the Mental Health Awareness Program 2024. In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of mental health, an awareness program was organized by the Management of College Ten on October 4, 2024. The program, attended by 40 members of the Student Representative Council (MPK) of College Ten, was held at 9:00 AM at the College Ten Residential Hall.

Themed "Jaga Minda, Jaga Diri" (Take Care of the Mind, Take Care of Yourself), the program aimed to provide information about mental health issues, how to recognize signs of mental problems, and strategies to cope with stress. Activities included a mental health awareness talk by Mr. Mohd Redzuan Zamberi, a psychologist from the UPM Counseling Division. Students were also asked to complete the DASS 21 questionnaire to assess their mental health status. The psychologist then assisted students in analyzing their DASS 21 responses. This approach aimed to raise awareness among students to consistently take care of their mental health, just as they would their physical health.

Mr. Mohd Redzuan emphasized the importance of eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health issues and encouraged students to seek help when needed. "We need to understand that mental health is just as important as physical health. Acknowledging the problem is the first step towards recovery," he said. Through this program, it is hoped that the students selected as members of the Student Representative Council will carry out their responsibilities while staying focused on their studies and successfully fulfilling the tasks entrusted to them.
