By : Mrs. Izwana binti Ismail K.B.;P.A.

SERDANG, November 29 - Counseling Division of Universiti Putra Malaysia (BKUPM) was invited to collaborate with the Facilitator Course Program Committee of the University in conjunction with the new student intake for the 2024/2025 session for the Putra Cakna Mental Health Program 2024 Series 4. This session was held on October 1, 2024, at 8:30 AM at the Experimental Hall, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural & Arts Centre. It was an important segment of the program where students were required to complete a mental health screening to assess their mental health status. At the same time, counselors shared the importance of maintaining mental health.

The main goal of this program was to raise awareness and understanding among students about the importance of preserving mental health and seeking early treatment if necessary. Students completed the DASS 21 to assess their mental health level.

This program involved 304 participants and was conducted physically. It successfully achieved its objectives by helping to assess the mental health of students selected as Putra Facilitators for Universiti Putra Malaysia by having them complete the DASS 21. In addition to mental health as the main focus, students were also required to be prepared physically to assist the university in ensuring the smooth running of Minggu Perkasa Putra 2024/2025. During this event, Putra Facilitators will assist throughout the new student orientation week.

As university facilitators, physical, mental, and emotional resilience is crucial because they are the first group to interact with new students during registration week and throughout the new student orientation.

Through this program, it is hoped that the students chosen as Putra Facilitators will be prepared physically, mentally, and emotionally to serve and contribute to the university, ensuring the smooth execution of Minggu Perkasa Putra 2024/2025.
