BANGI, June 21 – The KAMI PEKERTI@UPM 2025 program, themed "Self-Awareness, Sexuality and HIV", was successfully held at Ballroom 1, Hotel Tenera, Bangi, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., involving 61 students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) representing various faculties and student clubs.

Organized by the UPM Counseling Division, the program was conducted in collaboration with the UPM Student Affairs Division and the University Health Centre, with sponsorship from the Malaysian AIDS Council, the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), and the Centre for Waqf, Zakat and Endowment Management (WAZAN) UPM.

Through an interactive approach, participants were exposed to issues related to sexuality, social boundaries, and HIV/AIDS prevention. Professional speakers and facilitators also conducted simulations and shared current social realities.

According to the Program Director, Mr. Mohamad Ashaari bin Awab, “This program not only enhances students' understanding but also empowers them to make informed decisions, build strong values and self-identity, and become agents of change among their peers on campus.”

Participants gave highly positive feedback – 100% reported improved understanding of HIV/AIDS issues, while 89.3% gave the program a maximum rating for its usefulness.

In her officiating speech, the Head of UPM’s Counseling Division stated, “In today’s modern world, sexuality education and HIV awareness are no longer taboo subjects – they are essential for developing students who are intelligent, courageous, and conscious of their health and self-worth.”

Among the suggestions from participants were to extend the program to two days and one night, and to include more hands-on activities to ensure long-term impact.
