SERDANG, October 30 – The Counseling Division of Universiti Putra Malaysia (BKUPM) has been invited to collaborate with the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK) for the Putra Cakna Mental Health Program 2024, which will take place on September 25, 2024, at Dewan Putra 2, Kolej Serumpun UPM. This session is an important component where counselors will discuss the significance of maintaining mental health, and at the same time, FBMK staff will complete a mental health screening to assess their mental health status. The main goal of this program is to raise awareness and understanding among staff about the importance of maintaining good mental health and seeking early treatment when necessary. Staff will complete the DASS 21 to evaluate their mental health levels. This aligns with the recommendation that every employee should ensure their mental health is in good condition. Mental health encompasses your emotional, psychological, and social well-being, influencing how you think, feel, and act. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is “a state of well-being in which individuals realize their own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and are able to make a contribution to their community.”

This program involves 65 participants and will be held in person. It successfully achieved its objective of helping assess mental health levels, which is a vital aspect of life. The initiative taken by FBMK is a significant step toward raising awareness about mental health issues and gaining a better understanding of mental illnesses so that staff are better prepared when facing related situations. Like other physical illnesses, there is nothing to be ashamed of. It is essential to recognize the importance of mental health to lead a harmonious and fulfilling daily life. Through this program, it is hoped that FBMK staff will gain valuable knowledge and awareness about the importance of maintaining mental health.
