SERDANG, 29 Jan - The Counseling Division of Universiti Putra Malaysia (BKUPM) has been invited to collaborate with the UPM Volunteering Committee for an Interaction Session with UPM Volunteers and has been entrusted with the Volunteering and Mental Health Slot. This slot is one of the important fillings where Universiti Putra Malaysia staff who want to volunteer need to answer a mental health screening to find out their level of mental health. This program will be held on 23 January 2023 from 8.00 am until 12.00 noon which is located in Auditorium 2, UPM Faculty of Education.

This UPM Volunteer Interaction Session has been planned to be held in 2024 by looking at the current situation that mental health is important to those who are willing to become a volunteer. Before they are ready to help, they need to make sure their mental health is in good condition and ready to face any eventuality after helping the victims involved in the disaster. This is because someone who is willing to be a volunteer needs to be ready to help any mission that is needed.

This program involved 64 participants and was held physically. This program successfully achieved the objective of helping to assess the mental health level of Universiti Putra Malaysia volunteers by answering DASS 21 and they also need to be prepared in terms of personal health, physicality and commitment to the real work after the helping mission.

Puan Izwana binti Ismail, UPM's Psychology Officer as program coordinator stated "Through this program, it is hoped that UPM volunteers will be better prepared physically, mentally and emotionally in providing humanitarian aid to those in need. Hopefully this session will benefit everyone."
