Welcome Counselor Trainee BKUPM

SERDANG, March 30 - Welcome to the UPM Counseling Division Trainee Counselors namely to Sister Najwa Nurwahida binti Mohd Tarmizi and Sister Nurul Iffah binti Jauzi who are eighth semester students from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia reported to the UPM Counseling Division on March 18, 2024 while to Sister Cik Ong Xin Ting, an eighth semester student, Universiti Putra Malaysia reported on 25 March 2024. The three students were placed in Sections under the UPM Counseling Division, namely, Sister Najwa in the Mental Health Section, Sister Iffah in the Career Counseling Section and Sister Ong at the Self Development Section.

Duration This Trainee Counselor undergoes industrial training at the UPM Counseling Division for four (4) months. Industrial training is an important element of compulsory learning carried out by university students according to the field taken. Industrial training at the UPM Counseling Division gives students exposure and introduction to various aspects, new experiences and varied knowledge in the real world of work specifically for the field they are engaged in. Students are also exposed to work ethics and work management ethics and apply the learning in lectures to the real work environment such as, for example, students who are Trainee Counselors hold counseling sessions with clients and implement the inventory/tools learned or related learning techniques in client management.

The impact of the implementation of this industrial training provides many benefits, especially in mental preparation, work ethics, discipline, emotions and time management. This element is important in shaping the personality of students and maintaining the name of the University in the general public. At the end of the industrial training, the students will make a presentation of the industrial training report to the members of the UPM Counseling Division where usually the presentation will be held in the final week of the student undergoing the industrial training. This presentation report is also produced to be a reference and proof of the work carried out.

We at UPM's Counseling Division wish to congratulate these three (3) Trainee Counsellors, have a good industrial training and happy working together. Hopefully throughout this industrial training it will give valuable meaning and a wonderful experience created together and as the beginning of fulfilling the real world of work.
