SERDANG, September 24 - The "Cit Cat Putra FM with Counselors" segment returns for its eighth series with the topic ‘Wholesome Emotions, Enjoy Tranquility.’ The program aired live on Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Putra FM radio, FBMK, at a frequency of 90.7 MHz (around the Klang Valley) and streamed interactively at www.putrafm.edu.my, as well as on the official Putra FM and UPM Counseling Department Facebook pages.

In this series, Mrs. Kemelia Omar, the guest counselor, shared insights on the topic. According to Mrs. Kemelia, wholesome emotions refer to a state of stable, positive, and healthy emotions. Those with these characteristics will feel calm and achieve personal satisfaction.

When addressing our own emotions, the question arises: how do we evaluate and understand our emotional state? To answer this, we should ask ourselves, "How do I feel today? What is my relationship like with those around me? Am I stressed or overwhelmed by my workload? What activities or situations help me feel better? What are the main factors influencing my emotions?" By answering these questions and finding responses for ourselves, we can better assess and understand our own emotions, ultimately discovering the best ways to manage them.

What effective approaches can be taken to maintain wholesome emotions?

According to Mrs. Kemelia, to maintain wholesome emotions, we need to:

  1. Recognize and understand our emotions.
  2. Practice relaxation techniques.
  3. Maintain a work-life balance.
  4. Engage in healthy communication.
  5. Adopt a positive attitude.
  6. Seek social support.

What steps can be taken to help someone (a friend or family member) achieve wholesome emotions? Mrs. Kemelia emphasized that we should not only care for our own emotions but also help others, such as family and friends, in achieving emotional wellness so they can enjoy tranquility in life. Some tips that can serve as guidelines include:

  1. Listening empathetically.
  2. Validating their feelings.
  3. Offering emotional support.
  4. Assisting in finding professional help.
