Do you want to realize your dreams? Try imagining what you would feel when your dreams come true one day. I’m sure the answer would make you smile widely. Allow me to share my previous experience of making my career preparations and planning. The story starts when I was 18 years old. At the time, I was a Sixth Form student at Kolej Islam Sultan Alam Shah (KISAS), Klang. Back then, I was still searching for a career to pursue after I graduated from school. There were endless questions playing in my mind. 

However, like the Malay proverb, “Bagaikan Orang Mengantuk Disorong Bantal”, my school held a motivational program and one of the slots of the program was an activity that required me to build a personal and career goal. Thus, I immediately set a career plan to be a counsellor at a public university in the country.

After the programme, I built a plan for myself and took actions to realize the plan by making self-preparations and searching for information on which university offered the course that I wanted. 

Alhamdullillah, I got accepted into a Bachelor’s Degree course in Counselling at the University of Malaya. From there, I learned, and kept on learning because my goal was to keep succeeding and eventually realize my dream career.

Alhamdulillah, now I have realized that dream and am living my dream career. Thus, I would like to share the 3 strategies that I did.

Hang it up where you can see it

Act consistently

From now on, choose a career, not a job. This is because an individual's personality that suits the environment will create enjoyment, stability and achievement in your chosen career path.
