A counseling session is a process of face-to-face communication between the client and the counselor in a conducive atmosphere. True, it is a 'conversation' process, but it is bound by the counseling ethics that have been stated in the informed consent (informed consent) between the client and the counselor at the beginning of the session. Clients are welcome to chat casually with counselors to create a therapeutic relationship between the two of them. The counseling session begins with the construction of goals for the issues shared by the client. Accordingly, these chats are not a communication that slides and has no direction. It is well guided to get the best session termination.

Every client who attends a counseling session has his own issues. The counselor is responsible for providing common sense for each issue that has been shared and guaranteeing the confidentiality of the issue expressed by the client. With this, the client will be able to build trust and comfort with the counselor until the end of the session. This 'chat' process takes 45 minutes to an hour, and the meeting session takes place at least three (3) times.

This 'chat' is a chat that provides clear benefits for the client and a sense of being helped. Many of them out there are stuck looking for help and emotional support like in a counseling session. They expect counseling sessions to be a wasteful, unreliable and empty chatter. This stigma has a bad impact on society because groups that need emotional support lose their way and start to engage in negative behavior. In this regard, it is important to spread the word about the importance of counseling sessions with certified counselors as well as testimonials of the success of counseling sessions that have been conducted to go viral on every media outlet.

For UPM students, the counselors at the UPM Counseling Division are counselors registered with the Malaysian Counselor Board. This shows the credibility of each counselor is reliable and able to handle each case with full ethics.
