DANCING FINGERS WITH THE PEN

By : Mrs. Izwana binti Ismail K.B.;P.A.

In this fast-paced modern world, stress has become a common part of our lives. But don't worry, there's an easy way to overcome stress without spending much money or time. One effective method is writing therapy. That's right, dancing fingers with the pen.

What is writing therapy?

It's actually an alternative therapy method that involves expressing our feelings and thoughts through writing. You don't need to be a great writer to do it; just a pen and paper or a computer will suffice.

Who still writes diaries? Raise your hand...

When we were little, I often wrote in a diary. Whether sad or happy, everything was recorded in the diary. The main thing is, expressing all feelings and thoughts, whether on paper or typing them on a computer, can reduce stress and anxiety! Instead of keeping it all inside, it's better to pour everything into a diary. It will make us feel relieved.

Before we start writing therapy, find a quiet and comfortable place where you can take time to reflect and write. Start by writing anything that comes to mind - feelings, stress or worries. Don't worry about grammar or sentence structure; this isn't an assignment or a Malay essay.

When you write, let the ideas flow freely. Don't criticize yourself. Let your emotions and thoughts flow through the words. You might find relief after expressing everything that's been bottled up inside.

Additionally, writing therapy helps us to examine and understand ourselves more deeply. By identifying the sources of stress and worries, we can find more effective solutions.

So, try writing therapy as a way to manage stress in your life. It doesn't require high costs or much time but provides positive effects on your emotional and mental state. Who knows, maybe your writings can become an inspiration for yourself and others. Let your fingers dance freely with the pen so you feel calm and relieved and enjoy this short life.
