Dealing with Stress in the Workplace

By : Izwana binti Ismail K.B.;P.A.

1. Manage Time Well
Organizing time well can help reduce stress at work. Make a regular work schedule and be punctual. Don't let work pile up too much and don't put off important tasks.

2. Practice Work and Life Balance
Employees need to be given space to have a healthy social and family life. Management between flexible working hours, work holidays, and enough rest time can help to reduce stress.

3. Maintain Good Communication
Communicating with colleagues can help reduce stress at work. Talking with colleagues about problems at work can help to find solutions together. By communicating and collaborating in an organization, one feels calmer and happier.

4. Prioritize Important Tasks
Not all tasks given correspond to the level of stress performed. Do the more important and urgent tasks first.

5. Take a break
There's nothing wrong with taking a day off once in a while. Do something pleasant like going for a walk or reading your favorite book. Vacation time can also be used to spend time with family.

6. Take Positive Steps to Cope with Stress
If you feel that stress is getting worse, talk to your superiors or professionals such as counselors. They may be able to provide help and you can overcome stress at work.
