MINDFULNESS LEADERSHIP: THE KEY TO THE SUCCESS OF A LEADER

LEADERSHIP is basically the art of influencing others. However, it is not easy to influence people to join together to achieve our goals. In psychology, leadership is considered a process of interaction between the leader and followers. There are various psychological theories that explain how leadership occurs and how it affects work and teams.

Leadership psychology also explores how individual factors can influence a person's ability to be an effective leader. Some factors that are considered important include self-confidence, communication skills, good management, and empathy. Overall, the psychology of leadership helps us to understand how the leadership process occurs and how it affects the work of individuals and teams.

I share Amira's story. Amira is a student leader who has faced problems in leadership. He told how difficult it was for him to deal with the men he led. According to him, there are many types of his men, some are undisciplined, some are toxic in the organization, some like to convey incorrect things and some also spread slander against him silently. I listened carefully to each of those things. I understand what Amira is going through. Of course, Amira was disappointed because she expected good cooperation in the team she led. But the opposite happened.

So I shared with Amira some important things that she needs to know and need to have as a leader which is related to Mindfulness Leadership where I advise her to implement leadership with full awareness. Amira needs to be careful in every action she takes. By applying mindfulness leadership, Amira as a leader needs to control the response to an input so that it produces more accurate results. Amira needs to be smart because in the end it will be the results of her leadership that will be questioned. Meanwhile, to deal with the issues related to the variety of her men, Amira needs to solve them one by one and hold a personal meeting to give reprimands. In the organization maybe only one or two people have problems. There are many more who support Amira and can work together. Supervision is very important because with this Amira as a leader can have time to analyze a problem and find the best way to face the situation that occurs.

Amira must be able to manage emotions well, because wise and intelligent leaders are among those who can manage emotions well. Don't act on your feelings. Ideally, Amira should have this ability to carry out her responsibilities more easily. If Amira cannot manage her emotions well and act according to her feelings and express in a negative way, of course many bad things will happen in her leadership. One of the worst is that Amira must face the aura of a negative work environment. So this will result in poor productivity. I also had time to tell Amira, never fail to control emotions because people who are not able to manage emotions well are among those who behave selfishly which is very difficult to contain. While this attitude must be avoided by a person who holds the title of leader. This is because the leader has the responsibility to take care of the situation within the scope of his leadership so that his team is always in a positive state.

In addition, if Amira can manage emotions well, every decision made is the right decision for the benefit of the organization. If she decides something based on emotional impulse, of course Amira will face various harmful risks. Therefore, Amira needs to always be calm by handling all matters using common sense, especially in making decisions. This is because the main key to a leader's success is facing problems or crises calmly and practicing mindfulness leadership.
