P.O.W.E.R TIME MANAGEMENT TIPS FOR STUDENT LEADERS

By : Mr. Mohamad Za’im bin Rosli K.B.;P.A.

P.O.W.E.R is an acronym that also spells the word “power” in English, symbolizing strength and excellence. As a leader, it's important that you develop strong time management skills to be efficient and effective. Let’s learn something new today and understand the P.O.W.E.R concept so we can apply it in our daily lives.

P – Planning

The first P stands for Planning. Make it a habit to plan your daily activities. Remember, in a single day, you wear many hats—not only are you a student, but you're also a leader, a class group member, a child, and much more. That’s why it’s important to plan your day so you can manage your time effectively on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

O – Organizing

O stands for Organizing. After planning, you need to be smart about arranging your strategies or steps to reach your goals. For example, if today you’ve planned to complete two individual assignments and one society report, you need to prioritize what should be done first and what can wait. You can apply the "4 Time Quadrants" concept to help with this.

W – Willing to Do

W is for Willing to Do. This is the strongest internal drive you need to build. It’s a deep motivation or determination to achieve your goals. Think of it as the engine that powers a car—if the engine fails, the car doesn’t move. As the saying goes, “If there’s a will, there’s a way.” There’s no point planning and organizing if, in the end, you’re not willing to take action.

E – Effective Behaviour

E stands for Effective Behaviour. This refers to a set of productive habits or behaviours that help you complete tasks and fulfill roles efficiently. Effective behaviour is crucial to ensure your time is always used wisely. For instance, when doing an assignment, use the simplest yet most effective and practical approach to complete it.

R – Reflection

R is for Reflection. This means taking time to reflect on yourself—daily, weekly, monthly, or even yearly. Although this is one of the most important steps for personal growth, it’s often the one people skip or find hardest to do. Self-reflection helps you identify areas for improvement and recognize new skills you may need to develop. It ensures that, even with limited time, you continue to grow and progress.
