SERDANG, 30 April - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the Psychological Measurement and Mental Wellbeing Unit under the Mental Health Section, successfully organised the Putra Motivation Programme Series 1/2026 titled “Healing Until It Works: Strategies to Manage Stress and Anxiety” on 28 April 2026. Conducted fully online over two days, the programme served as a proactive initiative to enhance mental health awareness and empower participants to navigate increasingly complex emotional and psychological challenges faced by university members and the wider community.

The programme received an overwhelmingly positive response, drawing participation from both the UPM campus community and external audiences. Attendance records indicated a remarkable total of 1,611 participants, reflecting the growing awareness and importance of mental wellbeing support within society.

The session featured YBhg. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aziz Shah (Prof. Mas Positif) as the main speaker. His engaging and relatable sharing delivered a strong impact through a practical and easy-to-apply framework known as the STRL technique — Self-Awareness, Accept the Stress, Feel, and Release. Through this approach, participants were guided to better understand their emotional experiences and develop healthier coping mechanisms that can be practised in everyday life.

The programme also highlighted the value of strategic collaboration. Strong support from the UPM Registrar’s Office and the Student Representative Council (MPP) played an important role in ensuring effective outreach, promotion, and participant engagement. This collaborative effort demonstrated how meaningful impact can be achieved through organisational synergy and shared commitment to mental health advocacy.

According to the programme coordinator, Puan Noorihayatti Noorudin, more mental health advocacy series will be organised in the future, in line with the university’s aspiration to develop graduates who excel not only intellectually but also possess strong emotional resilience and psychological wellbeing.

Participants expressed highly encouraging feedback, noting that the programme provided practical strategies for managing stress and anxiety, encouraged gratitude and life appreciation, and delivered content in a clear, engaging, and entertaining manner. Many participants also highlighted the programme’s realistic and sustainable approach to healing, emphasising that recovery is a process rather than an instant result.

Overall, the programme successfully reinforced the importance of mental wellbeing awareness and cultivated a supportive environment that encourages continuous personal growth, resilience, and compassionate self-care among participants moving forward.
