4 Routines To Control Anxiety

By : Hanif Abdullah Hashim

1) Exercise - exercise is an activity that is proven to improve an individual's health both physically and mentally. Exercising can stimulate the production of endorphin enzymes and neuro chemical reactions that affect happy (positive) emotions. Exercise is also proven to remove the individual from a cycle of worrying thoughts (thoughts of individuals with anxiety tend to exaggerate and scare themselves), but when exercising, fatigue and physical weakness can dominate the thoughts overcoming the fearful thoughts.

2) Set a bedtime – make sure you have a consistent bedtime every day. Don't delay bedtime with unimportant things. Adequate sleep can ensure that the body and mind (brain) get enough rest.

3) Spiritual practice - Spiritual practice such as praying, chanting and everything else is proven to be a powerful way to control anxiety. This spiritual practice signals the mind to calm down and give hope to oneself.

4) Avoid constant stress – forcing yourself to stay in an environment that provides constant stress, as well as in a network that causes anxiety to not be effectively controlled. If you find yourself in constant stressful situations, look at it from a different perspective to overcome the stress.
