Thank you for your question.

Before we understand about mental health problems, it is better if we first understand the concept of mental health. There is a big difference between mental health and mental illness. Therefore, we should not use these terms interchangeably.

A normal individual may not have good mental health at all times, but still be able to carry out normal daily activities. In contrast to those with mental illness, where their daily functioning will be affected. In general, mental health is a reflection of the level of well-being of a person's thoughts and emotions.

The important thing to note is not to hide what is experienced. If those feelings and conditions continue to be kept alone, over time it will eat itself.

Symptoms and signs of impaired mental health can arise as a result of physical, social and environmental stress. It occurs when a person has difficulty adjusting or coping with stress. It can affect physical health and can be out of control. This will cause a person's physical and emotional condition to be affected.

The three main areas that may be affected are physiology, behavior and psychology. Physiologically, it causes a person to tend to get or worsen physical diseases such as heart disease and high blood pressure, causing headaches and muscle pain.

Meanwhile, behavior will result in decreased work performance, tending to have accidents, not showing up for duty, acting aggressively and easily getting angry, having difficulty making decisions and solving problems.

From a psychological point of view, it is likely that there will be a feeling of dissatisfaction, feeling easily, moody and feeling emotionally tired. Among the common symptoms that indicate impaired mental health are hot temper, difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite, weight loss, tremors, palpitations and lack of enthusiasm.

If you experience the symptoms as stated above, I suggest that you immediately seek the professional services of a counselor at the UPM Counseling Division. Through the counseling session conducted, brothers have the opportunity to know the level of mental health through the DASS 21 Screening Test conducted by a registered counselor.
Through this test, you can find out the level of depression, anxiety and stress. However, this test only serves as a preliminary screening and confirmation of the diagnosis by a medical officer (psychiatry) is required.

If there is a need to obtain psychiatric services, the counselor will help you to obtain the services of a psychiatrist at the Department of Psychiatry, Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS). It should be noted that the urgency of individuals who need help and early treatment related to mental health will help recovery more quickly. Hopefully useful!
