HEALING ACTIVITIES JUST A TREND OR REALLY HELPFUL

Author: Haniff bin Abdullah Hashim K.B,P.A

The use of the term healing has become a trend on social media now. If we check the content related to the term healing used by the media now, we can say that healing is an act of getting relief from stress, anxiety and self-release from uncomfortable emotions faced by individuals. The question is, are the healing suggestions suggested by the media really effective? Answering the question, firstly the user needs to check the objective of carrying out the healing activity.

1). The grace period

If the recommendation to carry out healing activities is to get relief in a short period of time, then activities such as vacations, carrying out outdoor activities, boating, swimming and so on are very effective. If the healing goal is of a long-term nature, it needs to be assisted with professional intervention. Without professional intervention the time taken to get relief will be longer. Implications if you do not seek professional help then it can lead to personal risk and can cause addiction.

2). The level of seriousness of an emotional issue

Current and mild emotional issues can be overcome with immediate activities such as exercise, aromatherapy, massage, walking and recreation. If the emotional problem is something that has continued and is getting more serious, the activities as mentioned are a temporary solution. The recommendation from the professional side is to seek advice immediately, it is possible that the problem requires intervention such as medication, counseling sessions or psychotherapy.

3). Type of activity

Individuals are unique beings and different from each other. Individuals also have different personalities from each other. Therefore, an activity can reduce emotional stress for one person, but may not necessarily bring emotional relief to another individual. Therefore, social media users need to know their personality, interests, abilities and risks before doing an activity. It is necessary to avoid activities that are initially carried out with the aim of reducing tranquility but end in tragedy, trauma or phobia.

Emotional management and mental health are very important. Therefore, social media users need to be smarter in making decisions. References and accurate knowledge need to be obtained in getting interventions related to emotional issues either in the short term, let alone in the long term.
