Tips for Undergoing an Industrial Training

Tips on How to Be Ready for Industrial Training

Each student will undergo practical training as an exposure and preparation to face the workplace in the future. Students undergoing practical training have an advantage because they are exposed to the industry before entering the real world of work. This initial preparation can help create a good image and first impression. Creating a good image and impression will benefit you as well as your placement industry as it can help build trust and good relationships between you and the industry. Here are some preparation tips you can do before undergoing practical training.

1. Study the industry background of your placement

You should do some research on your industry, placement and role before undergoing practical training. This can help you be clearer with your roles and responsibilities in line with industry needs. It also helps you prepare for the various challenges that come with performing a task as a trainee.

2. Set training goals and plan tasks

Setting training goals means you should be clear with the mission and vision of your industry training. You should know the goals you want to achieve as a result of the training and the knowledge you want to gain from the practical training experience. You should also be prepared with a task plan to facilitate the monitoring of your coordinator or ‘supervisor’ and help you conduct industrial training more smoothly.

3. Don't be ashamed to ask and be open

Don't be ashamed to ask questions because as the saying goes, be ashamed to ask the wrong way. Shame to ask will result in poor quality of work and will lead to misunderstanding. Remember that you are a student and the purpose of industrial training is to learn practically while upgrading your knowledge. Other than that, always be open. Be prepared to accept reprimands from supervisors so that you do not repeat the same mistakes in the future.

4. Prepare the necessary documents

Prepare your documents as early as possible to avoid causing problems on your first day. Trivial problems such as documentation problems will give a poor impression and image. Preparing documents early on can also help you be better prepared for upcoming practical training.
